Bloom is a hypothetical exhibition bases on the concept of surrealism and dreams. For this project, I curated six artists specialzing in conceptual arts to show their understandings of what is dream. The artworks range from photography, illustration to installations. For the exhibiton catalogue, I chose mutiple types of paper to express the chaotic unrealistic feelings inside people’s minds. The reflections of the silver-mirror paper and transparent Kraft paper create a emotion connects with readers when they read the book.

Wabi Sabi-Born from the emptiness of an imperfect world is a hypothetical exhibition. For this project, I am both the curator and designer for a hypothetical exhibition. I curated this exhibition with a group of 12 artists range from photography, architecture and graphic design in Japan to show their traces of Wabi Sabi through creativity.
The exhibition centers around Wabi Sabi, a cultural tradition rooted in the beauty of imperfection and impermanence The exhibition, as an invitation to explore the natural and unadorned concept of Wabi Sabi, will present a series of master pieces in architecture, photography and design of Japan. The exhibition will trace how they integrate the philosophy of Wabi Sabi - the flawed beauty of imperfection, the harmony with nature and the eternal tranquility through their master pieces.
Wabi Sabi means ‘imperfect’ in Japanese, and has a sense of roughness and rusty feeling. To follow the mood, the entry pages of the cataloguen follow an ‘out of grid’ style to trace the typography, as well as applying abstractive brushstrokes to define the imperfect random impression.

Shiroiya Hotel is an art driven hotel locates in Maebashi, Japan. This project is a rebranding for the hotel, with regards to develop a new visual system for the hotel. The purpose is to make Shiroya stands out from other similiar art hotels by consolidating its visual system with its unique architecture designed by Sou Fujimoto. The project involves logo design, brand book design, spatial arrangments and also a promotional video for the hotel.
SHIROIYA hotel is an art hotel locates in Maebashi, capital city of Gunma, Japan. It is a lightening hybrid place of a hotel, museum and public lounge for both the local community and the travelers to encounter and enjoy art, design and culture. With green and splendid artworks around the building, SHIROIYA Hotel brought the 300-year-old Japanese inn back to life with its contemporary art and community contribution activities. It sprouts with Mabebashi city’s revitalization plan, and becomes a new visionary landmark.
The final idea roots in the outline of the architecture itself- the logo is inspired by the hotel’s architectural style: irregualr shape, out of grid and simple.

Sparse Chaos
Summer 2022
Editorial design, motion
Spase Chaos is the project name for the zine that consists of two contrast ideas. For this project, I choose Yayoi Kusama and the Japanese Shinto as my contrast ideas- Yayoi Kusama is a psychotic artist, her inspirations come from her chaotic spiritual world; The Japanese Shintonism, is a religion that is distinctive and mysterious; by combing these two irrelevant elements, I want to discover the connection between mental health and the worship to divines.

Designboom
Fall 2022
Motion, brand identity
Motion, brand identity
Founded in 1999, Designboom is the world’s first online design and architecture magazine, publishing the latest news and key issues in all aspects of design, architecture and art. I want to renovate Designboom into a platform that connects sustainable architecture with people by not only providing information about design, but also offer opportunities as case study tours to help people getting inspired. Architecuture, in a new concept, can evlove with the environment and people.
Logo Animation
I use the shape of letter ‘D’ to trace the logo; as a way of showing creativity starts from zero to one. The square appears as a camera lens, and zoom out from far to a close persepctive.
The closing animation chooses to focus on the letter ‘OO’ to represent connection . When two circles bond toghter the final logo appears.
